ICTV channel and Danish Demining Group (a unit under the Danish Refugee Council) are starting a multimedia social project aimed at reducing the level of mine and ERW (Explosive Remnants of War) related accidents and facilitating a change in behavior among the Ukrainians forced to live on the territory of the conflict.
Over the next few months, a series of informational and educational stories will be shown in Fakty program, in which journalists will tell in detail about the individual safety measures upon the detection of the unknown objects on the territory of the former military action , as well as about the legislative and resource constraints of Donbass mine clearance; bring to light unique stories of mine victims and also reveal the acute topic of the Donbass Children living near the hot spots, and their safety.
Leading European experts in Humanitarian Affairs ¬– the Project Manager of the EU Office in Ukraine Helga Pender and the Head of the DDG in Ukraine Rownan Fernandes will talk about the measures that are already being implemented in this country, and share the experiences of European countries on the demining of the conflict areas.
In addition to the channel’s broadcasts, the project will be also presented on the website fakty.ictv.ua as a landing page, which will accumulate all the information related to mine safety: videos, expert commentary, exclusive reports, statistics and more. Also, in the framework of the cooperation DDG will create an educational video for social networks with the ICTV channel’s anchorman Konstiantyn Stohnii.
