Research division of StarLightMedia — StarLight Marketing — conducted a survey of audience demand on film and series genres. Respondents were asked two questions: ‘In which genres, in your opinion, it is worth to shoot films in Ukraine?’ and ‘What topics do you think should cover Ukrainian films?’

Importantly, the answers were not offered to respondents, they named all themes and genres independently. The answers were coded into the relevant category. The results showed that Ukrainian people expect comedies, historical and romantic films from producers, and expectations of men and women slightly differ.
In total 300 respondents were interviewed, 44% of which (146 respondents) were man and 56% (184 respondents) — women. A survey method was a telephone interview (calls to random mobile numbers), geography — whole Ukraine. Period of the survey: from 15 September to 15 October 2016.
StarLightMedia is the largest Ukrainian television group, which produces more than half of the TV product on the market. In 2015, it became one of the founders of the #KinoKraina initiative, the purpose of which is to build a profitable system of effective on-screen production functioning in Ukraine. In October 2016, StarLightMedia announced a pitch of ideas and project developments for TV series and films, both for the staff of the Group, and third party authors.
